These vivacious children were born into unfortunate situations but have made the most of the opportunities awarded to them.
When the Mmofra Trom Center was built, local village chiefs were asked if they knew any deserving children to attend the school and gain an education that would change their life. The children were selected because they may have lost one or both of their parents to diseases including AIDS or other untimely deaths.
In Ghana, they take great pride in their families; so traditionally, the extended family would care for an orphaned child. In some circumstances, the extended family could not afford to financially support these children. The Mmofra Trom Center has offered these children the resources that they needed to thrive. If the vulnerable children have an extended family in the surrounding villages, they still see them often so they still feel their family and village connections.
The benefits that the Mmfora Trom Center has awarded them, offer them the tools to escape the cycle of poverty.
These children are thankful for the opportunities awarded to them and do not take education for granted. They have aspirations of becoming doctors, firefighters, entrepreneurs and more. They are committed using their education to make their community a better place. They will bring the change their country needs to grow economically and socially.
These children are filled with optimism.
